This word derived from "Selm" in Arabic and means subordination, humility and submission, because it does not have any insubordination and refusal. In Quranic verses " Islam" means "being surrendered to God and his commands", the commands that transmitted to people by messengers of God. Therefore, according to the verses of noble Quran, one of the most important submission conditions is the belief that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), is the messenger of God. This reading is consistent with a meaning of the religious pluralism that emphasizes on rightfulness of Islam along the salvation of non Muslim people and , also, peaceful life with them, while is inconsistent with the definition that believe in plurality and equality of religions in rightfulness . این پژوهش بر آن است تا در خلال معناشناسی لغوی و قرآنی واژه «اسلام» رابطه آن را با بحث «پلورالیزم دینی» مورد کنکاش قرار دهد. «اسلام» در لغت از «سلم» گرفته شده و به معنای انقیاد و اظهار خضوع و تسلیم است، زیرا از سرکشی و امتناع که نوعی آفت و فساد محسوب می‌شود، خالی است. «اسلام» در عرف آیات قرآن به معنای تسلیم بودن در برابر خدا و اوامر اوست؛ اوامری که از سوی پیام آوران خدا به مردم ابلاغ شده است، بنا بر آیات مرتبط با رسالت پیامبر اسلام (ص)، یکی از مهمترین لوازم تسلیم، اعتقاد به رسالت آن حضرت است. این معنا با پلورالیزم دینی به مفهوم تاکید بر حقّانیت دین اسلام همراه با منحصر ندانستن نجات در آن و زندگی مسالمت آمیز با پیروان ادیان دیگر سازگار است، ولی با تعریف دیگر آن که مدعی تکثّر و تساوی آنان در برخورداری از حقیقت باشد، سازگاری ندارد. https://coth.ui.ac.ir/article_15720_3512838a5eef671dbc010c9ee98b392a.pdf
